All Small Six Interesting Intake

Was at the Bronco Super Celebration East this weekend and a vendor had this half cab for sale. I should have gotten better pictures of the setup but the custom intake they did for the carburetors was pretty cool to look over. Off to the side a fully enclosed airbox which I’m guessing pulls air from the fender well.

Why....

1. He had the tools
2. He wanted to become an engineer, but is trapped in a low-level management position in a waste disposal company
3. Alcohol was involved

It looks like he used a 2-stage fuel pressure reduction with the use of a Holley fuel bowl to reduce the pressure down so he could use gravity fed motorcycle carbs (Mikuni???).

Maybe not his first choice / attempt.

Why indeed, looks like the long way around when a set of 3 stock 1V Carbs would be cleaner and easier!

It’s possible, I know they got the 170 into the 70s and I can’t recall what year this was.

Edit: After investigation, unless the owner swapped the engine at some point it is a 170. First year of the 200 was 1973 and last year of the half cab was 1972.

I zoomed that up on my big monitor, and it looks like it's plumbed for 6 carbs, one aligned per runner. then they decided to do two plenums each with a carb. Are those Zeniths?
