Is this Barra worth a look?

I've never seen a Barra for sale locally. This one looks as if it's been picked over pretty well but is complete less the timing cover according to the seller. The owner had two and built one up for his Mustang. The price is $1,000, and it's a 3-hour round trip.

Thats a Territory engine with the front steel sump. I wouldn't give $50 for it in that state. Someone has pulled the sump off to get the timing cover off, and who knows what else is missing, the missing bolts are for the main caps crossbolts.MIght have been in a wrecked car. Get a more complete engine if you really want one. Down here that would be off to the scrapper, you would get a whole running BA-BF for that. Not recommended, unless you just want it for curiosity.

No, I don't need another curiosity. Thanks for the input.

In the states they go for 1600$ plus. Just know that most that come here are from wrecked yard anyways and will need pistons and rods.
Here's a site in the states that imports them has a Territory for $1600. https://barraswap.com/

So to builds these reliably to 600hp+.
- you need pistons, rods, valve springs, timing chain , main studs and oil pump gears.

Its worth it if your willing to do the bottom end.
Offer less and see if he take it.

Note: This will fit into a 60's mustang just need to get a short runner intake, motor mount from tuff mounts and a 6 boost turbo manifold to clear the tower and its already a front sump.

The seller built one up to put in his Mustang and was using this as the mock-up engine. I'm interested in a Barra, but my hands are full for the next year or so with other builds.

Several parts supplier in the USA now offer parts for it.
I've seen the number of Barra engines and parts becoming much more available over the last couple of years. I figure that I can find a better candidate closer to the time when I actually need one.
