large Oil Filter

I searched but cant find the post with the part number for the larger (longer) oil filter that lets you use 1/2 quart more oil. Anyone know?

That would probably be Motorcraft (FORD) FL-299 filter and you can hold like 4.5 to 5 quarts of oil.

Best filters seem to be those by:

Donaldson (#169071)

Baldwin (B2-HPG)

Wix (51515)

The above are the FL1A/PH8A size.


The Wix 51773 is extended length.

Howdy Jammer:

The larger filters you're looking for add a 1/2 quart to the total capacity of the system.

Fram PH977A
NAPA 1773
Purolater R17
Wix 51773

I didn't see the earlier post on it, but David is right, I'm sure your looking for:

Swith your ford one from the FL-1A to the FL-299
you can also use any of these other brands:

AC PF42
Fram PH977A
Wix 51773
Purolater R17

Any of these will move your capacity from 4.5 to 5.0 quarts.

If the parts guys give you a blank look, ask for the oil filter for the 361/391 big truck/industrial motors. Take care,
