anybody remember what the thingy is called to raise the height of your car on leafs in the back...

or does one of you fabricators wanna make those hangers in the adjustable ones for me?

thats it...I am noew thinking my ride sits too low in the back and I dont wanna cut the springs

where canI get them thingies. (late day gibberish from me)

I'm going to try Lordco this weekend....maybe fortins...i'm sure any good parts store should have them...

If its just a little low check your spring-eye bushings. They can make it sit at least 1/2" lower when worn out.

its all new...was sitting fine till it was acidenatlly jacked up on the leaf spring on drivers side...now it leans a little that way...everything looks ok...but.....

Any parts store. $20.at the most. use all your own bolts. They are just two pieces of steel with holes cut in them. Jack the car way up and let the weight of the axle droop the springs for ten minutes. If the car sits higher after you let it down the springs are realy worn: buy new leafs. Also, measure the height of the top of the wheel well from the ground with a yard stick. Do all four wheel wells at the fender lip. You may be surprised at what you learn about your suspension.

thanks ivygreen66...thats good info to know...dont know if i wanna put that kinda load on my rear bumper though  i'll try it cause my leaves are stock...hope i dont need new leaves though...i guess we could still use longer shackles though even if our leaves are crap...just wear it down even more....see what the car is made of...

I just did this last weekend. Local auto parts store had a shackle lift kit for $15.

The "shortest" of the holes was 1/2 in taller than my stock shackles, which was exactly what I wanted. Used a cutoff wheel to remove the excess metal and prevent the shackles from hanging below the car. Even used my bench grinder to "round" the corners for more of a stock look.

Car looks great, ride is great, no more rubbing going fast over dips in the road, and only an eagle-eyed viewer could tell anything was different without looking under the car. Great mod! :D

well my leafs are still good...now to get some shackles....do they make shackles for almost any car (would they have em for a monarch/granada) or are they fairly universal with only the bolt hole size being necessary...i thought they would bemore expensive than that...cant wait to get some...i also found some sweet hubcaps (yes...hubcaps) since i cant afford real wheels right now....cant wait till its done...should look real agressive when done...especially after i get thesidepipes on it next month...

Interesting I used to use shackles years ago (or air shocks) to achieve tire clearence, but now we have a shop here in Houston that will re-arch the springs to any spec that I want ,I am very satisfied with this method as when springs start to fade to the point of needing shackles or air shocks you are only temperarily hiding the problem .The last set i had done was on my 63 falcon i had them re-arched to stock height but had an extra leaf added ,they did all if the work, new bushings and everything for about 120.00 I dropped the car off in the morning and picked it up 6 hours later
Just a thought

like I said, it all started when I jacked it in the car in the wrong place

if I jacked the car back on the frame...would the weight of the axle make if archa little more

everything is new (1 year) and the jacking mishap was 1 month after getting it done..

I feel like an idiot admitting it...but want to get it back the way it was

rearcing the springs is a good idea...but the price of shackles is definitely more favorable...i know my springs arent shot cause i tested them and also all monarchs ive seen ride low in the rear...so shackles would be the way to go....
