hello people, well i'm looking for a 200 for my 66 mustang and i found one but i'm not sure what this 200 came out of.
i'm kinda looking for the correct number matching engine for my 66 stang..........the 200 that i found has the following # on the block

C6DE
6015-B

5M29

can anyone deCode this for me? and can someone tell me what would be the correct engine for my 66.........THANKS JOSE

That's the right block. The first string, C6DE? That'll tell you the year. C=1960's, 6=the sixth year. Look at the head casting numbers to see if they match. It's all to easy to swap heads. Ford didn't differentiate between product lines, the same engine went in the Falcon, Comet, and Mustang. Any 200 with C6DE would be correct for you.

well thank you for the info and what does the other # and letters mean? THANKS JOSE

C6DE
6015-B

5M29

6015-B is the block code - generic part number 6015, revision B.

5M29 is the day/month of casting but I can't recall exactly how to decode it. Will have a look and post back if I can find it.

well thanks for that info.....and i hope you can help decode the date for me...

65stang200....its a used engine and the guy that is selling it want $400 plus shipping.......

what should the correct casting number be on the exhaust manifold ?

I think the 5M29 means 29th December, 1965. The letter is the month, and from memory they didn't use "I" - instead went ABCDEFGHJKLM for January through December.
