i need some recommendation for a small decently loud muffler. any ideas? i just took my stock muffler off and it's loud as chit! i like but everything vibrates on hard acceleration and i think i pissed some neighbors off ( most of the neighbors are stuck up so i don't care about that but mom does for some reason).
plus it's illegal here in Va. to run straight pipes, i thought i could get away with but not now.
what are ya'll running and how do they sound. thanks ahead of time.

ps any sound bites would be awesome!

Glass packs are loud, but also EXTREMELY annoying. Go for a good turbo muffler and save everyone's ears as well as a hassle from the cops.

By the way, if you lived next to me, your VERY next post here on the board would be titled, "Help!! How come my car won't start??" ;) :P

Al

thanks.

al, guess it's a good thing i keep it in the garage but my neighbors are worse, they come flying down the road ( a dead end road) at like 60 and do burnouts at 3 in the morning in the cultasack( my house is around the cultasack).

Coupe...
If you are/can run 6-into-2 headers, I have grown partial to my twin 31" glasspacks. They are inexpensive, the sound at idle is great and they don't p.o. my neighbors...in fact they actually like it. Just passed inspection here in Norfolk with flying colors. Police just wave and give me the thumbs up. The sound of your ride is a very personal thing...what sounds like gold to one person will sound like lead to another...and the muffler system is only one part of the acoustic equation. Bob

I have heard cherry bombs, turbo mufflers, and glass packs run on 200's. They all worked pretty well. I have dual Flowmasters and they are VERY loud and perfectly pure - I love them (keep in mind mine are also being fed from dual outlet headers and 2 1/2" lines!)

Even better that it's in the garage, that way no one will see me :)

Speeders in my neighborhood have been know to have issues with basketballs and trash cans mysteriously rolling out into the road when they are happening by  With over 20 kids just on my street alone, speeding is NOT allowed.

yeah, the only reason i said something about the speeding is because there's a lot of toddlers and babies running around and a lot of them walk right out into the road to get something or just running around playing.
now someone once "accidently" ran over a basketball when they came flying down the road. i don't know how that happened?

*edit* thanks for everybodys' help!

I'm running a pair of generic Turbo mufflers that were $20 or $30 from a local speed shop. I didn't have the funding to spend $70 each on flowmaster 2-chamber mufflers, but my car still has been mistaken for a 351 :D

Go with what you can afford. Turbos are what I recommend, although if I had the money, I would have tested a ton of mufflers to get that thick growly sound that I REALLY wanted. But I'm pleased with what I have.

I installed a Flowtech Afterburner in my '63 Futura. A 2-1/4" line hooks up to AzCoupe's headers. It sounds great. Low burble at low idle, and throaty at higher RPMs. Not too bad price-wise either.

DKComet, are you running a header with your duals? Any chance of a sound clip? I was looking at those same mufflers a while ago and it'll soon be time for an exhaust on the Falcon.
