I am looking for a good, honest machine shop in the Houston area. I need to rebuild the motor in my daughters car.

thanks

It's not in the Houston area but in Dallas I had great luck using one of the largest rebuilders, in this case Blaines Motor Supply. They did all the repairs and machine work on my head. I have bought all my bearings and gasket(s) from them. Not only did they have them in stock, their price was by far the cheapest; same name brands and part numbers.

They don't list the Ford 200 as one of their engines. But the odds are if you have a rebuilder in Houston that have been building engines in volume for 20 years then they can do your machine work and they may have your rebuild parts on the shelf.

Hope this helps.

sorry - know it wasn't for the previous poster, but I was looking for this same info and I live in Arlington (near dallas), so I appreciate the tip!

If you decide to use Blaines, go down there in the morning or middle of the day. I grew up not that far from there, that is one of the rougher parts of town. Work with Brad, he's a really nice guy.

If you need a core (like a head) Bishop Engines is the best, ask for Adrian. He runs across some 70's heads, mine was a D3, and they will stand behind the cores, I didn't ask about blocks.

I went with Stallings off of Fulton. They have been around since I could even say the word "engine", and I'm 40. Very honest and respectful and I stand by my words.

With 0.040" over-bore, balance and total shortblock rebuild/overhaul (including all parts needed), my price was @ $900.00. That did not include the head work, I had that done by another.

Only thing, you will have to take it to them, they are a machine shop only.

Stallings Motor Machine Works
4206 Fulton (off I-45 and Cavalcade)
Houston, Texas 77009

Good luck,
