I found this gauge cluster on California Mustang:

also, here's the link:

Plus NPD carries the CNC machined bezel wiht brushed aluminum for $389.95! that is really what I want. Also NPD carries a custom 6 gauge wire harness. Is that harness worth it? Would that ease my troubles and has anybody used it? I was thinking I could get the whole thing through Mustangs Plus and pick up that wiring harness from NPD. And when the money came along, I could buy the CNC bezel later, as long the gauges from Mustangs Plus will fit the CNC bezel.

This is what I'm looking for, but I have dilemma. I'm guessing I'll be needing to purchase the alternator harness and head light harness that are setup for gauges, but would I have to replace my underdash harness for gauges also? I have the warning lights on my gauge cluster so I'm confused. If I can use my original wiring harness, that would save me $400 and time. jezz..... As you can tell electrical is not my area of study...

BTW, engine compartment is coming along slowly, I found more rust spots to be takin care of.... guess I won't make that Six Flags car show after all. Though, it looks like I might be able to put the head back on tomorrow after 3 months sitting on a work bench... arg

I installed that cluster from Mustangs plus last summer... I also had the warning lights and used my existing wiring only adding a wire for the tach.
It is very easy to do... you only need the cluster and bezels... I opted also to wait on the billet bezel and use the cheapo one that comes with the gauges... as for if they will fit I am not sure?

But, here is what I know one by one...

First... you need 12v power... you can loose the regulator off the old cluster... this you can run from gauge to gauge, or split it like I did...
Second you need ground for all the gauges... again I split these off with my own wiring.. then ran to the harness and tied it in.
For the lights you can cut off the lights on the old harness and run those leads to the lights on the new gauges...
the rest are all sending units...
Fuel.. uses the same lead.
Temp.. uses same lead... change of sending unit...
Oil.. uses same lead.. change sending unit...
Alt... uses a 12v power lead same as the power for the rest of the cluster... NICE!
Tach... run a wire to the coil or Control module...

DONE...

Best of all.... if you get one.. and you want some help I could pop over and lend a hand... :D

I love mine... beats the crap out of the stock unit.
(If you order the one from Mustangs Plus... make sure you specify six cylinder... the sending units are slightly different... this cluster comes with Hanline gauges, and good instructions....

My stang should be running in a couple of weeks.

Very cool and thanks for the info Jimbo. But what about the wiring harnesses? Since I need to replace them, should I just go ahead are put in the one's made for the GT gauge cluster or stick with the warning lights harnesses? I'm not close to or even have the money to do the electrical yet, but I want to be ready and knowledgeable when it comes time to do the install. I have to get my header first so I can fiddle with the A/C setup. It's one thing after another... and yeah when it comes time to do the gauges, I'll give you a holler if i'm bad shape... thanks again!

I think that depends on what you plan to do on the engine side...
I replaced the headlamp and engine harnesses with GT replacements so I have wires for fog lights.

Like I said the 6 cyl wiring harness has everything you would need...
plus it is just like the one you are taking out...
I also added a 1-wire alternator and eliminated the regulator and alternator harnesses (for the most part... some is still in there... but most is useless)

I would go for best price... since you will be cutting into the harness anyway, and replacing all of the connections for the gauges... it is just wire.
In fact I used more of my own wiring than the gauge feed.
