Changing valve cover today, ran into a couple of questions:
67 Mustang 200 automatic
There is a line going from the carb, or under it to the back hole in the top of the valve cover, as I am changing carbs to a 2 bbl anyway, do I just put a breather in the back hole?

There was another line going from the carb or under the carb to the drivers side towards the firewall, this line attached to another line that appears to go down and to the transmission (I did not crawl under to verify at the firewall it is a small copper line, at the carb side it is a larger rubber hose) So what could this be? My assumption is that it is some type of vac line? (No it is not a fuel line I do know that much)

Any help or suggestions is appreciated

I think the one line,, going to the valve cover is PCV which is the one I am asking is it ok to just run a breather?

The line going to the transmission would go to the vacuum modulator to cause a downshift when intake manifold vacuum gets low. It could be attached to any source of intake vacuum but the pcv valve vacuum should go where the crankcase vapors get pulled into all the cylinders equally which is why directly below the carb is used. Replacing the pcv with a breather will work, but vent some nasty vapors into the air. My 61 with a 63 170 doesn't have a PCV and has a road draft tube that vents it from the front of the block downward to go under the car & not get drawn into the vent or heater air input.
