In light of my recent budget cuts I am revisiting a old idea.
I want to take my old catalytic converter exhaust manifold and grind off the lip to form a flat flange surface so I can bolt on a plate which will have the T3turbo opening cut out and studs mounted in it.
I can find about 1/4in to 3/8" mild steel. Im thinking I need 1/2in thick. I want 1/2" thick to hold weight of turbo and to also allow me to radius the inside a bit to help improve flow.
I do think a older style manifold with the large opening and a J pipe would flow better but Im unemployed now and I have two of the converter style manifolds laying in garage.
Is it possible to stack two 1/4in plates for this purpose? pro's? Cons?
Any input appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark.
