I have rebuilt the Autolite 1100 and set the float and set the mix and idle screws. The car idles PERFECTLY and runs at higher RPM SMOOTHLY. There is no smoke at idle nor at higher RPM.
According to factory specs and my timing gun, the engine should be properly timed.
However...
During acceleration, it still puts out some black smoke (rich) with the following:
1) sounds like sputtering
2) loss of power until I take my foot off the accelerator and then re-accelerate at which time the little 200 comes alive and takes off like nobodys buiness.
I have read elsewhere on this forum that an improper set advance could have the same symptoms as a rich running carb.
My '68 engine is all stock with the 1100 1V and a stock Autolite Distributor with points and dual advance (vacc/centerf.)
Any thoughts?
