ok now im all confused. so with the vacume hose hooked up to the dizzy and i give it a shot of gas the advanced arm is not moving at all. it should move and advance timing shoudnt it?

ok now im thinking fuel but i have good fuel pressure. i dont think the carburator is letting enough fuel into the motor. i can close manuel choke about 1/3 closed and the motor accelerates fine. could it be something in the carb itself. the carb is a autolite 1100 from pony carbs. could it be the main jet is not big enough . and how would i fix that or can this model carb be adapted. thanxs cocacolaman

Did you check fuel pressure while accelerating like I asked on the phone?
Did you do the choke/acceleration test while parked or driving?
Try raising the float level and see what happens. Check that fuel pressure WHILE accelerating.
Replace the fuel filter again???

Are you sure the fuel is making it from the pump to the carb? It took me almost 6 months to find a small peice of crud lodged between the fuel filter and the carb inlet port. I replaced just about everything else before I found it. It would let the carb idle ok, but cough and backfire under acceleration (on a hill in my case). I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, rebuilt the carb, new float, and adjusted the float before I found the culprit. Could be causing your problems.

no i did not check fuel pressure while running down the road. but i was driving car when i opened man. choke and the motor smoothed right out. i talked to the guy at pony carbs this and it sounded to him like it may be in the jetting. he is going to send me a bigger jet to try. ill let yall know when i get it put in.
