Inline 66 stang 200 with C4 auto.

My motor mounts look like wet sponges..need to change them. completely stock motor, and when I give it some juice it is obvious the stability is long gone.
How do I remove and install the motor mounts...What needs to come out to do this??.. I assume a floor jack may be involved, and obviously the removal of the old mounts, but aside from that, I have no clue.

the way I would do it would be, remove the large nuts on the bottoms of the motor mounts, one on each side. Then jack the motor up until the mounts come out of the brackets. Then remove the mounts from the block, replace mounts, then let back down, install the nuts back on the bottom and you're done. Try and use a piece of wood under the oil pan and make sure your jack doesn't slowly let itself down as you wouldn't want any crushed hands.

Is it really that easy?....I guess when you raise the motor enough to get the new mounts in it doesnt interfere with the alignment of the tranny housing? Obviously you only raise the motor enough to get the new mounts in between the brackets

jack stands are worth the money

lol yeah, that's what i meant to put also, jack stands.

I don't think it will mess with the alignment of the tranny, I had a 2.77 3 speed and the above method worked perfectly, but that was with the cantilever mount, so I think the c4 has a solid mount so you might have to undo the 2 bolts on the bottom of the mount. It would probably be worth checking out that mount also.

After a failed attempt to get my buddy to do a spin-out in his '66, he ordered 2 new motor mounts and we did not losen anything other then the 2 nuts on the bottom of the mounts and take out the 2 bolts (for each). This was with a new trans mount already installed, which we were 'testing' at the time. There was even enough play in the clutch linkage.
