Hi i just bought a 61 falcon with a 144 in it. It wont start ,all it dose is click from the starter selonid. I just replaced the starter and the selonid. I can turn the harmanic balencer with my hand so the motor isint froze. It still wont start all it dose is click what do i do?

Either the starter or the battery is needing attention. Usually the battery.

check the charge on your battery and then check all of your ground leads. there should be a ground wire from your engine to the body and the negative cable on the battery goes to the engine block. then check the cable from the solenoid to the starter it may be corroded on the inside and you cant see it for the insulation on the wire. that new solenoid may not be any good either. let us know what you find

i still cant get get my falcon started . I changed the wire that goses to the starter and just bought the a new battery and it still clicks. i even got one of the connection lights and it lights up . i had the starter cheaked and it was good.

but i did find some thing out while workin on my falcon today. i took off a flat tire and looked up in the wheel well , melted rubber is plasterd to the wheel well. i dont think that i have to stock motor cuz i dint think that 144ic could peel out . the tire is bald in the middle to. if i could only get it started now.

hey

maybe its the starter cause it is poping out just not spining take the starter off bring it to napa autozone or some place to get it checked. Let us know.

is the distributor any good? Is the cap corroded on the inside? Check your spark plugs and wires too. If the battery, stater, and wiring from that part of the ordeal has been replaced, I would check the distributor. As for stock engine, you can get the #s off the left side of the block and on top of the intake manifold.

Igot it started ha ha ha  My car had been in a "barn" for about 10 years before i got it. A mouse ate a wire on just under neath the battery tray a lil yellow wire. Put a new wire after i ate dinner and it fired right up. wow dose it run , a lil back fire but after a bout 10 years with out runnin dang runs good.

I started cleanin under neath. and saw some stuff the whole fron of my car has had weight reduction. the fender have been cut in some places and the floor bords have been replaced . i will have pictures and parts that i would like to trade in a couple of days. i would really like to get some original rims and hubs. and get rid of my rims they are really light but i want a original look, thanks for all your help
