I got pissed yesterday and threw my YF down the street. Turns out trying to make a carb without a commercially avaliable plastic float work w/ boost is more trouble than it is worth.
So - the other carb that I have avaliable is (ironically) a motorcraft 2150 - Annular boosters and all.
The carb I have here has IIRC 1.2 stamped on it, so I am assuming this is a 1.21" venturi carb. It does have an ID tag attached, but like an idiot I left it in the garage at home. I do beleive the # started with C7 but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense as the 2150 AFAIK didn't start showing up until the early 70's.
So my primary question is what is the correct rebuild kit? I did a little rooting around and came up with CK677A.
Naturally, I will be direct mounting this carb as I too agree that you cannot effectively stuff two 1.21" holes worth of stuff into a 1.75" hole (to a first order approximation.)
And because I didn't feel like pulling the turbo+exhaust+manifold+everythingelse to just get the head off, I'm modifying the head in the car. Actually went pretty smoothly so far - a perfectly viable option for lazy people like me everywhere.
I've searched and there is a fair amount of scattered information on these carbs in the forum - but no real detailed discussion. I did find the following website that is very detailed but incomplete:
http://home.earthlink.net/~bubbaf250/21 ... arb01.html
Does anyone else have any quality 2150 links?
Maybe once I get this installed and tuned, I'll do a dyno shootout with a Holley 2300.
