HI ALL
Got the motor out of the comet this weekend.. :) So I can start cleanning up the motor bay, and paint it... :)
I noticed that on the 61 170 it has adjustable rockers... and the 78 200 it doesn't?? Can I put the rockers off the 170 onto the rocker shaft of the 200 so I can have the adjustableity? :?:
I know I'll have more question as I go but this is it for now..

Tim,

the adjustable rocker arms were used on early 144ci and 170ci engines only, prior to the 1964 model year.
For adjustability and convenience you can use the adjustable rocker arm assembly on any 144-170-200-250ci head, but keep in mind adj. rockers need pushrods with a cup on the upper end.

Its all covered in the Schjeldahl Bros. Falcon Performance Handbook.

Adjustable rockers are needed for the solid lifter motors, when Ford went hydraulic, they just used up the leftovers, like Ford has always done. Adjustable rockers are a nice addition for rebuilt motors if you've decked the block, skimmed the head, or otherwise affected the distance from lifter cup to rocker.
