Sorry to have troubled you, but I was doing this for a school shop project and needed quotable data from various individuals for report.

he wasn't saying that to be rude. you'll find much more info if you use the search than what you'll get from this thread alone.

I had 23 with my stock "but old and tired" 200.

Now with the mods, bigger cam, headers and all the rest I am at 19 in the city and 27 on the hwy. The difference here is the T5 with a cruising gear that lets me roll 80mph at 2100rpms.

Hope that helps.

Make sure to differentiate Automatic and Manual. Manuals will normally yield better #s.

With Stock Holley 1100 and Loadmatic distributor:
Mixed driving: 18
Highway @ 60-65 & top up: 25
Highway @ 75-80 with top down: 21-22 MPG

Top down seems to cost me about 1.5 MPG average, but it's more fun. :vert

I have not done enough driving to get good #s from my mods, but last tank, with current setup, yielded 19 MPG in mixed city and highway, @ 75-80 MPH with the top down. (It is still Summer.)

In my newly aquired 66 Mustang Convertible with a 200, c-4 no mods I am currently getting about 26mpg on the highway judging by my 71 mile round trip to work.

Here are some of my numbers:

Pure stock 200, 1V Carb with a 2.77 3 speed tranny and 3.20:1 rear, stock ignition

Around 25MPG on the highway, 21 city.

Same as above but with Pertronix ignition:

27MPG Highway, 23MPG City.

Same block, 260H Cam (20% more lift), 1V carb, 4 cyl. T5 5 speed, and 3.20:1 rear:

29MPG on the highway, 24 city.

Same Block, 260H Cam, Offenhauser 3-1V manifold adaptor with 3 1V Autolites, T5 5 speed, and 3.20:1 rear:

27MPG on the highway, 20 City (hard to stay off the gas around the city).

Same Block, 260H Cam, Oz 250-2v, converted to 4V carb, enlarged valves, Holley 390 cfm 4V w/ vacuum secondaries, T5, and 3.20:1 rear, DS II ignition and MSD:

27MPG highway, 22MPG City

Same as above but with 3.40:1 rear end and V-8 T5:
27MPG highway (not thoroughly tested...only had 1 real tank of highway driving so far with this set up), and 23 MPG city.

Hope that helps

8) i pretty much always got between 18 and 22 mpg with all my sixes. manual or automatic, 170 or 200, pulling a trailer or not.
