My new carb :)

Thought ide post a pic of the new carb and the bling bling brass vacuum fitting and clear tubing for the distributer line .. I think im closing in on my 70bhp

All right I have to ask what is that thing in the upper right corner of the photo that has a brake line going in it that is coming out of the m/c?
Is that some kind of power brake unit?

Sure is! I'll jump in before addo, and tell you its a VH 25 remote brake booster, like my old 1960 Vauxhall Cresta ran. If its faulty, it will allow your engine to smoke wickedly. It boosts the line pressure, and makes wheel cylinders push harder on the brake drum or disk.

The early Chrysler Hunters, Plymouth Crickets, Hillman Hunters, Sunbeam Alpines and the so-called Rootes machines Chrylser imported to America, Oz, and New Zealand ran them due to space limitations. Get it checked out. If its PBR or VH, there was a comprehensive rebuild kit around, but its ages old now. Ford used them on early Flacons in Oz, up till the XW when it got replaced by PBR bits.

I just spotted that in the pic and was planning a reply, then read down the thread to your posts. Bugger.

ONE unsung point about boosted brakes is less stress on the firewall. I have seen older vehicles develop stress cracking at times, from clutch or brake actuation.

by the way, I have a valve cover just like yours, but mine is chrome(chrome adds 25 bhp yeeeeeah).

Yeah, if you guys thought that clear tubing and brass was blingin wait till you see my air cleaner mod.. Lets just say i was bored ... also, what about this smoking brake booster stuff? Soemthing is causin some smoke after we changed out the carbs, thought it might have been the trannys vacuum module since 2nd gear wont shift anymore, I was told when the module goes out sometimes itll let atf back up the vac line into the intake manifold but still has a burnin smell and still wotn shift (im sure its the detent, bort62 has another tranny for it, where i snagged the other vac module But yeah heres my bling bling air cleaner... i might be closing in on my 70 horsepower after this super big block performance add on hahaha

Yeah I know it sucks.... more air with my performance modified air cleaner.... 8)
