Some may say that a DUI is overkill for my application: a mild 200 with an Autolite 2100, Clay Smith 264/264/110 cam, Pacemaker headers. I have to agree that is true - a DS II with a good coil and module would be enough for my 200. But I really like the look of a "clean" engine compartment, and the DUI will allow me to do away with the module, coil, and all the associated wiring.

If clean is what you like then you should look at a swap to a 3G alternator.

The Ranchero already had a Delco (GM) "10si" style one wire alternator setup in it when I bought it. It's very clean and functional, but I'm not a fan of mixing manufacturers so I'll probably replace it with a Ford alternator if it ever expires.

Thanks

I fault no one if they like the look of a product, so long as it doesn't detract from performance goals they have. At least you know going into it the DUI is probably overkill, but visual asthetics is very very important as well.

Then again, there's me -
w/the trump card of durability and - factoid # 1: "he's a po'boy".

Still I really love what you guys can do (pic R fantastic even if I am on dial up) and
appreciate the carb rebuild walk thru given a yr or 2 ago (it's dead again tho, didn't use the Stable).

I really liked my DUI, I'm not electrical so I liked the simplicity of it, and now with the TBI conversion it was nice that I didn't have to 're-invest' much.

I love the clean look. so yes it's important. I'm sure you'll get your $$ worth.

8) spend your money as you like, just be wise about it. if you like the DUI, then by all means pony up the cash for one, they are reliable and parts are available even in resume speed, idaho, or moose breath, montana.
