My Turn for "Another Diff Question"!

I have pictured here, a Centura retainer plate on top of a redrilled (to suit this) XW-XC backer plate.



Here is my problem: I want to know how this bearing retainer plate "works". Note the kick up.



My understanding is that this detail is supposed to channel oil seepage out to the back of the plate, through the V-slot shown.



BUT... Is the Falcon retainer at all different? Is there any relief in the backer, for the retainer's kick? Who can take a photo of one for me? I am desperate!
