need a good solid 1bbl carb to replace mine

Really depends on how much you want to: 1. Spend 2. Do yourself 3. keep the car stock/mild performance.

you could simply rebuild it (assuming you have an iota of patience and common sense) by buying a rebuild kit. Looks like you have an auto. choke autolite 1100, judging by two accelerator pumps (notice front of carb on both sides a square piece with two arms/rods...but I don't see the auto choke housing on the back....Looks like it may be incomplete. If so, Pony Carbs can sell you what's missing...

The autolite 1100 is a great carb, assuming you have the corresp. load-o-matic dizzy (pre '68 i believe). You could either order a newly rebuilt one from pony carbs - roughly $300 bucks) or you could rebuild it over the course of a weekend (allowing time for parts to soak in solvent) and $25. Just make sure if you rebuild it yourself that you have plenty of space to do so and that you get a complete rebuild kit. My rebuild kit only had one diaphram for the accelerator pump but that's because i screwed up and got a manual choke kit on accident.


If you are looking to bump up HP and go to a 2 bbl, you're best to evaluate other links on this site for what other's have done. If you have any questions about the autolite 1100 feel free to send me a message and i'll help you out!

You have a manual choke Autolite 1101 with SCV for a vehicle with an automatic transmission (one accelerator pump, one diaphram dashpot).

If you want to stick with the 1101 but want compatability with a DSII or other non-load-matic distributor, go to an auto parts store and ask for a 1 bbl. carb for a 69 Mustang with a 250 and automatic transmission. That's one year only that will have the correct linkage hookup and bolt right up. It's non-SCV (good) and will likely be an automatic choke (convert it to manual to continue to use your cable or convert your car to automatic choke, it's up to you). Watch out for them trying to slip you a '70 up carb of any type, they have a different linkage setup for a cable pull linkage and would require you to retrofit a cable linkage to your car.
 
Watch out for the parts monkeys! I went into PartsAmerica (aka Advance Auto Parts) and ordered a '69 250 carb. Their computer clearly showed an Autolite carb, and had the Autolite #'s.

When it arrived the next day, it was the generic Holley replacement (1940? 1946?) carb. Bah!

At least they cheerfully refunded my money and apologized, and the manager even called their warehouse and had the warehouse monkey look in some other boxes - all Holleys.

So I got a Stovebolt H/W 5200 and adapter, instead. Now I just need some Weber jets...

Evan, I've got the Autolite 1100 that came on my free '68 200 you alerted me to - You're too far away for me to buy you a Thank-You Beer, but how about a free carb?

If you want it, you're welcome to it and the rebuilt kit I ordered at the same time as above. It's clean (WAY cleaner than yours), has a hot-air choke, SVC, and is for a manual trans (no extra dashpot).

I never installed it, so I don't know its exact condition, but if it's anything like the engine it was on it oughta bolt on and run well. Only thing missing is the "bridge" thingy for the air cleaner stud, I stole that for my weber. I'd think you could swap the chokes and stud holder, and be good to go.

Sure - I've kept it handy as a back-up in case I can't get the Weber set up perfectly, but if you want it it's yours - it's the least I can do, and the Weber is looking good. Just let me know!
 
James if you decide on getting rid of that Autolite 1100 one way or the other, I would gladly buy it off of you my friend.
