the compresser in my 66 coupe 200 ci,, is going out,, I'm looking for a place that rebuilds them here in the phoenix area or else,,, where to get one locally. It's an after market setup and the compressoer only last approx 2 years before it goes out. Also does anyone know of anyone who crimps the connecters on the hoses, I'd like to clean up my current setup

thanks for any help/info

dude, if the compressor goes out every two years, you need to upgrade that or stop buying parts from that manufacturer
if you replace the compressor three times, plus labor and materials, you've bought a brand new complete aftermarket setup

as for the hoses, i've found that most NAPAs or Car Quests, or whatever the equivalent out there has a shop that makes AC, brake, and hydraulic hoses

8) what compressor are you using? what refrigerant are you using? what head pressures are you running?

if you are still using the york style compressor, i recommend swapping to the sanden 508 as it is far more efficient, and uses less power to run.

if you are running R12, your head pressures should be no higher than about 180psi at 70 degrees. if you are using R134a your head pressures can be higher, closer to 250-300psi at 70 degrees. if you are charging the system using the sight glass, and running R134a, shame on you as you are running far too much pressure and that is why the compressor is failing.

also make sure you are running the right refrigerant oil for the refrigerant you are running. and make sure you have enough oil in the system as well.

I've only dealt with them via internet, but I highly recommend these guys:

Arizona Mobile Air Inc. (www.ACKits.com)
3601 West Clarendon Ave.
Phoenix, Arizona 85019
Local: 602-233-0090 Toll Free: 800-648-4475

Check out their website and forum, there's a TON of good info there. And with A/C, it doesn't pay to take the cheap way out.
