Ok here's my problem this is my first turbo build and I have a few questions. First I will tell ya'll what I'm building it is a 250 with a fordsixe's blower cam the head was milled alittle .040 the valves were replace with the bigger late model ones ported polished and the combustion cambers reshaped to unshroud the valves. log milled for 2bbl carb. stock botton end balanced. the turbo is hx 35 holset. I have read all the stickys ( very helpful) my questions are why does everyone use a msd btm instead of mallorys digital 6 box with the boost interface? secound is where is the best place to get oil from to the turbo can you just t off the oil sending unit.

I guess I'll try to answer some of your questions. First off all fo the fordsixers that I know of T off the sending unit. I have yet to hear of any failure because of it. As for the msd or mallory, I believe more trust the msd and feel it is a better piece. Thats all I can come up with. I bought mine new for 100 bucks so I couldnt pass it up.

Mallory Digital 6? I have a MSD Digital 6. I didn't know Mallory made one? But I could be wrong.

I know that the MSD Digital 6 box uses a ON/OFF type of timing retard. IAW you get all or nothing. It's mainly used for nitrous.

With a turbo or blower you want to pull timing out as boost increases. So it's more progressive. A MSD BTM allows you to dial in a "retard curve".

I've heard stories of Mallory not being as good a quality as MSD stuff. MSD is certainly the standard in the abusive world of circle-track racing.

OR...

You can inject a 50/50 mix of methanol/water (denatured alcohol or isopropyl w/ water works, too) using a boost pressure switch (hobbs), leave your timing where it's at, and keep the internals of your engine clean at the same time. Wow! what a deal, and if you DIY, it is less than the MSD 6btm. People are having good results with this...go on over to turbomustangs forum and check out what they have to say.
