1. The new head I have needs to be machined and braised to install the Weber Conversion from Classic Inlines...But I cannot find a good machine shop in my area that can do both milling and braising...Any West Phoenix recommendations!?

2. What is that hole under the carb base, it is not in the 200CI or even the 72 250 head I have...Do i make a plate to cover it...can I buy something...? What are my options?

I spoke to Mike at Classic inlines and he said his normal guy is backed up for months!...He suggested I find a local shop (One on the west side)...but after a couple of days...Still no one I trust!

I have the same head, and was planning on building a plate to cover the hole under the carburetor mounting base. It had some kind of vacuum lines attached when I pulled it from the '82 Zypher. I was under the impression you did not have to build up the flat top head when milling for a 2V carburetor??? I hope someone will chime in and clear this up.

I'll chime in about that hole below the carb plate. It is a bung for a vacuum block. There were three nipples coming off of it. I have it on my stock 6. One is for the power brake reservoir and the other two are for vacuum advance and some other sensor. The AT modulator comes off the base of the 1100.

I believe that Mike has a picture on his Classics website showing what needs to be done to mount a 5100 after brazing and milling. IIRC, the flat surface is now lower than the tops of the log on either side. Either that or it was a recent post about mounting the 5100. CRS kicking in early today.

It would be great if there was no braising and or building up on this head...I have a great milling guy , he just was scared of welding and or braising cast iron...Does it need to be done here? The classic inlines website images definitely show areas that are built up to create the base surface. Again this is for the Weber DGV Conversion...Unless anyone tells me why I should get another carb...I am currently running the DGV 32/36...And will that change the answers to any of my questions?

So has anyone done this already?...Do you have to build up the large log intake to install the Weber 2V adapter?...or is there enough surface area there to simply mill it and drill it!?

You do need to build it up in a few areas, in the past some have used epoxy filler to do that. I think I would weld or braise it if you want it to last a long time.
