New Dizzy on the way.

Well, we finally decided on a new dizzy manufacturer. Any of you had any experience with Performance Distributors or DUI units? They already make a dizzy for the big six. I met with them at the PRI show and worked out the details to produce one for the small sixes for FSPP.

It will be a simple one piece, drop in unit, with the coil is inside the cap and the module inside the distributor. Just run one 12 volt hot wire to the distributor and you're ready to run! There will also be an optional tach hook-up included. The Street/Strip D.U.I. unit will be built with a 50,000 volt coil that allows a whopping .055" plug gap to be run. The Dyna Module is designed with more electronic dwell time producing a hotter spark. No ballast resistors are used.

Although it is uniquely designed, replacement parts will be easy to find. High Energy Ignition (H.E.I.) replacement parts will fit right on the D.U.I. dizzy. You will be able to order DUI parts and custom curve kits form me as well. The unit is polished and lubed as it is assembled and built for durability. The dizzy will also have an upper and lower bushings, unlike stock Ford distributors with only one bushing.

Caps will be offered in Blue and Black, with custom LiveWire kits in matching colors. The dizzys can be custom curved based on your specific needs, or for immediate delivery at a discounted prices, we will stock three or four different pre-curved units based on the most popular setups.

Things just keep getting better by the day.

They will have a vaccum advance.

Not sure on the exact price yet, but it will somewhere between $300 and $350. Which is about the same as the Duraspark, and the MSD module and coil.

does it retard the compression like the JY duraspark II to make it easier to start??
will they have a small hole for early blocks?
will it fit under a crossflow/x-flow??
thanks

sorry Junk Yard duraspark
speaking of which is the MSD duraspark spark control(knob mounted inside) replacement is still made, i would check the part number its freezing rain outside.. from the specks i recall 15 degrees of spark control and '3x the output' looks close to stock

I put a DUI in my '68 Catalina about 10 years ago... best upgrade per buck I spent. PERIOD. Awesome unit. The idle quality and perfomance were outstanding. I even called them when I bought my Mustang in '97 and asked if they had a dizzy for the small Ford 6. Count me as one of your first buyers... I highly recommend it.

Sweet, set me up too. That could potentially solve a few of my issues!

Mike, performance distributors with their DUI is the greatest thing this engine will receive.

First its advance mechanism is above the breaker plate, thus making advance curving & total advance a dream.

I have used one on my el-camino for years & it works to perfection.

Get them available & yes they are user friendly with the MSD box.

Another great product from FSPP via performance distriburetors. William

Question is, why would you want to? The whole idea here, is that's it is an easy performance upgrade without all those wires. Which cleans up the engine bay. Clean, simple, and effective.

I just heard from Steve, the owner of Performance Distributors. Those guys don't mess around, they will have the first sample ready to ship in a couple weeks. 8)

Yup. That unit is about as slick as a magneto with none of the drawbacks 8)

It's a graded market. Cheapest is Ptx, followed by DS-II, then MSD, then this part... If they offer a small shaft version it should be a category killer.

Any news on these yet?

It is still too cold to work on anything here on the north coast for a few more months, but I was planning on switching to a DSII in the Spring and this may have me changing plans....

The proto type is done and will be shipped to me on Monday. Performance Distributors had a meeting with Primeda today and took the dizzy with them, to be photographed for the New Products sections of MM and M&F.

Once we make sure they fit properly, they will start working on the first production batch. Cost will be right around $365, but keep in mind, no coil or ignition box is needed. Only one hot wire to the battery. If you buy the dizzy dirrect from them, it will cost $428 list, or $390 jobber. FSPP will stock replacement parts, custom curve kits, and custom Livewire sets in black and blue.

Here's a pic of it (the black dizzy is the actual prototype). I added the blue cap in photoshop, as the caps will be available in black and blue. I was hoping for yellow and red too, but they don't have the right sizes. If they sell well and there is a demand, then I'll look into having custom caps made in those colors.

and I volunteer for testing in the southeast quadrant conditions.....
