I need to replace my fuel pump but I was wondering if it matters wether the pump arm is above or below the cam? The one I currently have is for a '77 block. I have a '68 block. If I replace the old one with a '68 pump then the arms are different. Make sense? Should I just get another '77 pump?

Hmmm.

Just got my new fuel pump and my thinking was incorrect about the arm location relative to the camshaft.

It works.

Are you saying it works with either pump? The arm can be on top or below the cam? I like those early glass bowl pumps. I wonder if I can put that on my 63.

Sorry LaGrasta, I meant the new pump works. BUT I don't think it would matter wether the pump arm was on the top or bottom of the cam as long as it's designed that way.

Originally I thought the old pumps arm was below the cam which is different than what the parts store showed me. So, I went back to look at it again and saw that it was not. Oops. The arm goes above the cam.
