I actually joined this forum a while back and have posted an odd comment or two but never really introduced myself.

So...Hi! :D My name is Mark.

I have a '65 Mustang hardtop with the 200 I-6 w/3 speed manual. I got the car in 1991 when I was 15. It was a TOTAL basket case and my father and I spent a lot of time together putting it back on the road. I drove it for a few years, and parked it in 1996 when I bought a new 96 Mustang GT. The car has been sitting in a feild behind my parents house for the past 8 years. I'm afraid time and the elements have not been so kind to the old girl and once again it is in need of a large amount of TLC.

I recently retrieved the car from my parents house and brought her home. I'm in the early planning stage of what looks to be a fairly lengthy rebuild. The job will be done much better this time, as now I have the resources to do things more correctly, but I still am not interested in concours originality. She's still a basket case in many respects and I plan to just have fun with it and build her the way I like. I'm a big resto-mod fan (looking seriously at cutting the top off via the Mustangs Plus Ronster kit). Honestly, I'd probably be time and money ahead to start with a different car, but then it wouldn't be MY car, the car my father and I spent so many nights and weekends working on together. That means much more to me than anything else.

Enough of my rambling, here's the car:

Oh man. Edelbrock valve cover and tri-flow setup. Shweet.
Farm out the body paint job and start get down to business cleaning up the engine room. FSP headers, electronic ignition. Holy cow! I'm coming over.

 thats amazimg...did u pick up the car with the engine done up like that? did u guys do that...thats a beautiful setup u got..does need some TLC though..the Ronster kit would be AMAZING...do it!

My father and I did everything you see on the car now. The engine has got a Clifford cam and headers and we made the tri-carb set up ourselves. Electronic ignition is first on the list for the engine.

BTW, I did the "GT200" stripes myself in 1992. I've seen a lot of people here refering to their cars as GT200's. Anybody got one that predates mine?

My father and I drove the car to Charlotte, NC in '94 for the Mustang 30th anniversary show. That's where I found the Edelbrock valve cover. I think I gave $75 for it, including a 170 head that had been modified for three carbs. I junked the 170 head and put on the valve cover.

As soon as I get the garage cleared out I'll get it inside and start tearing things apart and see exactly what I have ahead of me. We replaced the floor pans back in 91. They seem to have held up, but the rear torque boxes and subframes are in desperate need of replacement. The doors are trash and will be replaced along with the left front fender and hood.

Asa, You'll finish her you just gotta dedicate alot of time, money, and dirty hands:P.. Here in the next few months im going to work side bye side my fiance's father in rebuilding and repairing summit transmissions I cant wait!!! He's making a nova showcar and he just keeps it at the shop and works on it there.. so hopefully i'll be able to do what I want with this 200

Nice Mark. I got mine in 1991 as well from the original owner when I was 17. My father and I also spent a bunch of time on it.

I still have it and other than a new clutch and rear main seal, runs well. Its also a 3 speed with the tri-carb set up.

Its got a lot of potential man, looks pretty good as it sits right now though, ive seen a lot worse. your engin also has a lot of potential, sure looks pretty nice....

Stangster, i have those same wheels on my car, i got them from discounttiredirect.com a few years ago. they are chrome modulars, and if im not mistaken i think i paid $250 shipped including the center caps, not a bad deal in my opinion.
