hey, im new...and i have a 1964 and a half ford mustanf with a 200ci inline6. i wanted to originally swap the motor to a V8, but when i resaerched it a little bit more...i decided it would cost me too much to fast. so i started looking for ways to beef up my 6. so i eventually wound up here. so what i need from you guys is to help me find parts...and get parts. whats the best way to do this? anyone know? im very mechanically inclined and can do all the work with a lil bit of help. if anyone knows where i can order parts...you could help me out. i also want to know what the best way to pull alot of horsepower out of this little engine is. turbo? supercharger? multiple carbs? please reply and help a mustang brother out. thanks alot.

that's Mike's page, he's a member here, goes by the name of AzCoupe, should have just about everything you'll need
make sure you pick up a copy of the Ford Six Cylinder Handbook, it'll tell you everything you need to know about getting more power out of it

as for the best way, just get her to breathe better, open up the head, intake and exhaust
forced induction would be a good way to do it as well

basically....start reading.

this site is FULL of many mods to do to get horses...but like mr asa stang said here...get the handbook plan it out and dive in...

welcome

If your car still has the original motor, it is probably a 170.

I think the best thing to do, if the engine is in good shape, would be to make sure the vacuum advance is working, add a Pertronix Ignitor, add an electric fan, and add headers. That will add and free up a couple of horses, make the car nicer to drive, and make it sound a little sportier without breaking the bank.
