New to Ford Six--200 build

I've always just used high temp rtv silicone gasket maker...the red stuff...nothing else. Just smear it liberally over all the mounting surface on the milled area and screw the adaptor plate down nice and tight. Make sure once the adaptor is on that there are no air holes around the plate where it contacts the log. Done.

On this side of the cylinders you are not trying to keep high pressure in. You are keeping relatively lower pressure out. Plus there is a place where it comes in. Namely the carb throat. So that is why a gasket sealer will work here. You can also get gasket material of differing thicknesses and make your own - with or without gasket sealer.

Thanks guys. I know the air's going to take the path of least resistance(as long as the filter is the easiest way I'm good). I'm just going to use a gasket in combo with 'right stuff' or hi-temp RTV to be certain.

Thanks for all the help guys, and I have another question concerning spark plugs. First, I'll go ahead and spec out my engine for you....

C8 200 block decked .025"....engine builder said he left the pistons about .005" in the hole.

.030" over dished pistons...(I know I've said .030" & .040" in this thread, but it's .030" over, I need to stop posting while studying for midterms)

Erson Cam Advertised 280/280 .420/.420 lift 208/208 @ 0.050" lift 111* lobe center. Springs matched to cam.

D7 head shaved .040" to give 55cc chambers(orig measured 62cc) Non-adjustable rockers. I kept the stock valves and just had my engine builder touch up the valve job. Mild port work, cleaned up the bowls and matched the exhaust gasket.

Direct Mount H/W 5200

DUI dizzy and MSD plug wires I'm loaning from a friend until I can purchase my own/ buy him another set.

EDIT: 9.0 Static CR

As soon as class ends in June and I'm back to full time at work, the exhaust will be dealt with. ;)

If I didn't mention something, it's stock(timing set, rod bolts, etc.)

As far as the cam goes, I spoke to Mike from CI today and he said I should be pretty happy with the performance increase. He told me he would've suggested a dual pattern cam because I didn't upgrade to larger exhaust valves. If it runs halfway decent, which it should based on Mike's opinion and that of the my machinist, I'm going to be really happy and if the cam isn't perfect. I'll live and I'll learn. This is the first build I've been involved in and I just want to learn from this experience.

With all of this said, I'm running 2.83:1 final with a C4 and this car is a daily driver. Spark plug heat range selection is beyond me and I searched the forum in hopes of a sticky about it but found none.

If someone could help me out with this or point me in the direction of a good tech article, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys. I've learned a great deal about these engines/cars from this forum and I want to learn more.
