I have a 65 coupe with a 200 I6 and 3 spd manual transmission. Just finished having the transmission rebuilt. Now I want to start on the engine. The first thing I noticed was that I have the high mount starter, above the oil pan, are there any headers for this or do I need to have them fabricated? Second I want to upgrade the head, intake manifold, and carb. What are my choices. I have found the 250 Aussie and considered the Demon 350 2 bbl. I have seen photos of a triple Carb set up but I can't find it anywhere and do not know where to begin. Can anyone tell me my options. Also will the American 250 head and set up fit a 200 like the Aussie will.

first, welcome aboard.

I will be going with the 3 carb setup and the offenhauser intake myself, but if you don't like tuning carbs this might not be your cup of tea. Summit Racing sells the intake and here is a link about how to install it.....

lots of 2 barrel carb adapters available for the old ford heads at places like Clifford performance.

Plus, if you haven't bought the Ford Falcon 6 performance handbook yet, it is worth it and a great read.

Once again, Welcome :D

Thanks you for your advice, any more would be greatly appreciaed

Welcome to the forum Allan. I have a cuz' with the same name just one L though. If you are like in So. Texas the 3 one barrels may be a great choice for you. Many here have reported mixed results---some are having to adjust the carbs a lot to get them to operate well. I think some of it is about elevation---atmospheric pressure/weather and all---most all of it too scientific and above me...But those triples look cool. My 65 cpe is originally from Texas and it was and probably always will be a 200 inline six. Lots of knowledge and know how on this site---I use it a lot.

Welcome.

Do a LOT of reading before you start modifying. Make a plan to modify stuff and keep it evenly balanced.

Start by reading all of the sticky posts in ALL of the various forums. The more you know, the better the decisions.

You make Horse Power by ignition, carburation, compression, and intake and exhaust air flow. Everything you read - even for the V/8 stuff in Car Craft applies to your Six.

Start with an electronic ignition. FoMoCo made the DuraSpark II from 1975 to 1983. You notice a seat of the pants difference right away.

Read the sticky posts on 144-250 head swapping.

Read the sticky posts on How to pics of my Duraspark II conversion.

In the Hardcore Tech section, read the sticky posts on porting and the sticky on 3 angle valve jobs..

Check out the link to FSP at the bottom of the page.

Have fun, and feel free to ask qusetions.
