New Website Uploaded

Well, its done. Guess I should say uploaded, not done. I still have a lot to do, as you will notice if you spend time going through the site. But close enough to upload. I've literally spent hundreds of hours leraning the programs, designing the site, and entering data. Which is why I've been a bit slow lately getting orders filled and answering e-mails. Sorry about that. But I needed to get the new site done as quickly as possible, since I wasn't able to update the old site (long story). Plus, I think I'm going to be pretty busy when the new heads finally get here. Testing various setups, developing related products, answering e-mails, and filling orders.

Hope you guys like it. Lots of new stuff. :wink:
 
Your time and effort was definitely worth it, it looks excellent!
Easy to navigate, nice look, and lots of kick-ass motors right up front!

I've got a lot of photos to upload to the Gallerys, but it takes a little time to do it right. I'll be working on those next. Still lots to do in the Tech section, and I need to fix the Race Classes as they aren't right.

Top of every page, just under the pic of the cylinder head. Its also on the Favorite Links page, under forums. However, It might be a good idea to add it to the main menu buttons too, as it is kind of hard to see up in the corner. :wink:
 
Congtatulaions are in order, your hard work and forward vision are coming to fruition, I hope you can quit your job soon, that candle burning at both ends meets in the middle eventually. Best of luck Mike and I am definately still getting that head and intake combo and many other things. thanks for your hard work and endless pursuit, hope to meet you one day.

site looks good, i like all of the information on the site. was just reading the pages about how to pick a cam. very nice.
 
I too think it looks great. I was looking at the apparel and only got auto parts. Guess that's in the de-bugging phase. But it is killer. I like it.
 
Mike it looks good :) What technology did you use. Pure HTML/java script? Dou you have db or something like cms? I'm asking you about it becouse I gradueted computer science. I'm interesting about this stuff :)
 
I used Dreamweaver and Fireworks for the site, and the db uses MS Access. Took me a couple months of trail and error to figure it all out, since I have no experience or education in computer programing. I just about gave up, but finally got there. I tried using PHP first, which I never did get as I couldn't figure out SQL. But then switched to ASP and Access and caught on pretty quick. Most of it is HTML code, some Java. The shipping estimator logs onto the USPS server, but that was pretty easy to set up once I registered and got a used ID and password from them.

I hired a company to design the previous site, but could never get any support when it was done. Then they went belly up and from there it turned into a nightmare. So this time I decided to do it myself, as I didn't want to get stuck with another website I couldn't update after paying big bucks to have it done. I think I made the right decision, and I'm very please with the results. Plus I know the site inside out. I just have a few small bugs to work out.

Toughest part is checking all the links and entering all the data. Very time consuming. I can't tell you how many nights I worked 24 hours around the clock, or longer. A couple weekends ago, I started at 5pm on Friday, and didn't stop (except for bath room and kitchen breaks) until I fell asleep in front of the puter on Sunday afternoon.

Well, its 1:30 in the morning and I need to hit the sack, as I have to get up at 5:30 to go to work. I've been boxing up orders all night and just finished printing shipping lables, but thought I log for a few minutes before shutting the puter down. :wink:
 
You should know that clear mind after couple days off should repair all your bugs :) Rest is one of the most important thing in programmer job. If I can advice something, don't write your web page all the time make some breakes, even for couple days.

You have right that after you get your page form webmaster you don't get support (most cases). In my company we do that, or we are making a web page with interface for managing page. I'm used to work as a programmer / project manager. I know something about nights and days trying to figure out something :) At the moment I'm making my company webpage so check it out http://www.gecosystems.pl/joomala. Remember that this is just a draft/template in polish :D We don't sell ladder :).

Also in my opinion entring all data is the worst thing :)

I'm glad that you know what is what on your page - it's important knowledge :) I'm sure that you will have less problems with your page now.

You should be proud Mike :D
