Chachee,
The engine pull is very easy. To make things easier, pull the tranni with the engine. It will save you a lot of headaches in the future, because I;ve got a couple right now from working on my car... :bang: :bang: :bang:

It pays to get a bit of good advise I managed to pull mine half way out with the manual gear level still attached. When it broke with a snap and I realised what all the trouble was.
Next time Ill rap a chain around the engine hang the whole car from a gum tree and pull from the rear.

I speak from recen experience, Take your time pulling the motor. Tag and label every little thing. It may take a few hours to finally get the motor out, but you will save time when it comes to putting it all back in. Secondly, i wouldn't pull the trany unless you plan to work on it. One less thing to deal with and you won't be over crowding your work area with a trany that didnt need to come out. If you take your time, you can mate the trany and engine with ease. I took over 20 digital pictures of my motor so I could have a visual reference where everything went. Trust me, a little effort prior to removing the motor will save you hours on the other end. I just put my motor back in my car last week. Wasn't too much for my 10 yr old son and I to get done in just a couple of hours.

Great,
I am going to be replacing the tranny with a 5 speed and I would like to upgrade all the wheels to 5 lug. So I figure it will be easier to pull it all together.

Where on the engine is the best place to attach the chains without them tearing something off?

First pull the head before you pull the engine, made things lighter and a little easier to manage...

Then you can run the hoist bolts into the front and back two head bolt holes....
I had some old bolts around that fit and were shorter than the stock head bolts... or an old set of head bolts will work also....

8) and when you are ready to pull the engine, you have the hoist hooked up, the tranny unbolted, etc. etc. etc., check everything again just to make sure. i have pulled several engines over the years, and when i pulled the engine from my mustang last time old age and arrogance caught up with me and i forgot to unbolt the starter cable from the starter, i did remember to unbolt the bellhousing from the tranny though. needless to say i need to replace the starter cable. was going to anyway, but it would have made things easier if i just double checked... :x :x
