nitrous kit for xflow

I want to put nitrous on the mustang eventually. I've seen kits made for more modern cars but i haven't seen any for old mustangs. I figure i will have to buy all the parts seperately and put the kit together myself. I was wondering what all do i need to do that? has anybody put a nitrous kit on themselves before? has anybody used a more modern kit on their car before? is this an impossible idea?

The thing with EFI and N2O is that you can do it two ways: DRY: the nozzle injects nitrous only into the motor and you have to raise the fuel pressure to compensate, the lowdown is that you can't inject a lot of it.
WET: the nozzle injects both fuel and N2O into the engine, the problem with this is that atomized fuel may "puddle" in the intake manifold, causing nitrous rich conditions, which is BAD!. The way to correct this is using a multi-port system with one nozzle per cylinder, but that equals big $$$.
So basically it's up to you and how much you have to spend.

what is a fogger? is it efficient? can i get a 100 shot out of it?

i know nothing about nitrous.
 
A fogger is just another name for nozzle.

The one on top has 2 inlets, one for N2O and one for fuel, the one on the bottom injects only N2O.The latter plumbs into the intake duct pointing towards the throttle body.

BTW, I really like the "new" Edelbrock nitrous kits, they're not that expensive and are very high quality compared to other brands.

You COULD use two bottles with one system, but unless you just want it to look extra-ricey, there's no real reason to have them :wink: . Except you would only have to make half the trips to the shop to get a refill. But as to your question, I suspect a good "T" fitting could be used to plumb in a second tank.
 
i was guessing a t-fitting. i was wondering if anything else was needed. I wanted half the trips to get refills. i always thought a rice burner would rather have two subwoofers that looked like NOS tanks.
 
LOL, yeah. I don't put my foot into it that often though. And I've seen some pretty riced-out Mustangs back home. Not here though. Just riced out VW's and Opels.

if i ever went ricer i think my dad would kill me. i just want less trips for refills.

btw, how long will a 10lb bottle last me at the track?
 
IIRC the 10 # lasted me about 10-12 1/4 mile runs, (with the 50 shot) it's really difficult to get a real estimate since you have to mess with the set-up a lot until you get it right, I did a lot 1-2 powershift runs, half track runs and so on. Besides you can almost never use the FULL amount of N2O that the bottle can hold, after it's 3/4 empty it doesn't have enough pressure to work properly.

maybe. the heat will exite the gas and cause the pressure to go up a little bit. I live in florida though. it's rare to have a cold day. especially during summer.
 
The bottle warmer helps to maintain the optimum pressure (around 950 psi), but remember nitrous is in a liquid form inside the tank, if there's more gas than liquid in there that's what you'll end up with at the injector plate. :wink:

Whoops. Forgot about that. Seems obvious when you think about it though. Been a while since I messed with nitrous (or most anything). When I get back home though... got a lot of stuff to do :twisted:
