It was the radiator...the supposedly "Brand New" radiator that looked new, but must have been clogged. :(

This morning I flushed the block cooling system, installed a new carb spacer, and a new NPD 3+ radiator. During the test drive the temp gauge never went over half way..... :D

So, I'm mad at the guy's dishonesty in that trade, but not at the efforts/delay. I was kinda forced to learn how r&r a distributor, mess with timing, and the importance of timing/carb adjustment/vacuum in regards to cooling issues.

I guess I never should have assumed anything about that radiator.... Thanks to all who offered advice! Dickson

FYI.

The "rebuilt" distributor I bought from NDP a few years ago for my '65 200 had the springs swapped  . I guess the "Einsteins" at Cardone Industries (Nat Part Depot's supplier) don't know the difference between a primary and secondary spring in a Ford Load-o-matic dizzy :x . Cause all kinds of problems; mostly stalling. I learned my lesson: don't trust any "new" part  !!!

Congrats Dickson! Glad you got it.
Now, you've learned some of the best lessons possible with engines, because what you've learned translate to ALL of them.
Best of luck!
