noises

Hi

I got the ignition system out of an 81 mustang at the yard. The distributor makes sounds when I am moving it in my hands, like a rattle. Is that normal? I figured it was the centrifugal weights inside. I don't know if this means its junk or not.

I bought a duraspark distributor from the parts store a couple of weeks ago and it made noises when you spun or shook it. I think it's the weights.
