Now I Know Why You Guys Don't Like Clifford

I call Clifford today to see how long it will take to ship the Weber 32/36 carb adpater and they tell me they are out of stock and it will be 3 weeks until they get more. Then the guy tries telling me that the H/W progressive 2bbl is a piece of crap and to buy a Holley 350 or 500. I told him no because I want a progressive carb for mileage and performance. He says the holley 350 or 500 will give me better mileage and performance than the H/W. He told me that the H/W doesn't mix the fuel and air it just dumps fuels into the engine. He said he doesn't understand why people buy stock carbs. I told him a bunch of people on this forum have told me its a great carb and he said that they don't even look at this forum because all we do is replace parts with other stock parts and when somebody actually does buy something from Clifford they say its amazing. He said everybody eventually starts buying from Clifford because their products are so great. He sounded like he was frustrated with me for not buying the Holley 350. I can't really wait 3 weeks, does anybody know of a place that makes these adapters? How much of a hassle is it to use the Stovebolt adapter? BTW, the guy at Stovebolt just got a shipment of brand new H/W progressive 2bbl carbs and he sells them for $75!

get the stovebolt adapter for something like $15, other then them, i'm not sure

The Stovebolt adaper is generic and not specifically designed for our Fords. It will work, but it takes some fabricating. For one thing, the bolt hole orientation is wrong if you use it without the factory spacer. It sets the carb at an angle relative to the engine. That will work, but linkage becomes harder. If you use it with the spacer, hood clearance becomes an issue.

Hmmmmm... I bet Mike would be supprised to hear that. I think about 90% of the stuff he sells are performance parts and not stock. Also, all the members here that are running OZ or argie heads, or who are running an SC or turbo would dispute that statement a bit. Clifford seems to not only have a problem with delivering products, but are arogant and narrow-minded as well. Someone else needs to build a good set of carb adapters for the log heads, and a port divider. If those two parts were available elsewhere, I for one would have no further use for Clifford.

So with the Stovebolt adapter, the only thing that I would have to do is change to a cable linkage? Will the carb being at an angle cause any problems?

It was to my knowledge that weber has recently settled there employment strike and has gone out of business. thats what word has over here.

Hahha! Does a bone stock engine (with nothing changed except the turbo being added) count?

I had better hurry up and get my other head finished up so I can start on "version 2.0"
