ewww... at least its not as bad to the ears as having the thinner part of the rear of the headgasket go... all i heard while driving was *pop pop pop pop....* ever since then, I carry ear plugs in my car as a precaution.
How much would you be trying to sell that 68 for? (i'm not trying to add to the fleet, but I do have some pals in S FL that may be interested).

The link just says "Your session has expired."

Is a blown head gasket really that loud? That's something that I've never heard - and hope to never hear!

if the gasket blows and it leads from a combustion cylinder to the "outside", yes- VERY... (that's 8.8:1 compression being pushed out a small hole resulting in a high rate of speed). mine had the luck of going at the rear of the engine, where *I* am closest too... and no stereo on earth can mask that.... OUCH... my ears still ring of that!!! ((( )))
If its between cylinders or passages, then u may not hear anything at all.

Now you know why it's the old guys with the cool cars.
Their kids are grown and moved out!

gonna have a baby-seat built into my roll-cage....

any girl i've been with, they either understand my love of cars, share my love of cars (few and far between are those), or they are on the way out...
find a way man!! find a way!

My head gasket went awhile ago. Guys on Fordsix had alot of insight. My particular case, the gasket went between the cylinders. It felt like it was comletely out of time and firing order. No problem, you can fix it. Just ask for some help. It's here...ZZ

i remember went we had our first child, had a nice 66 mustang, sold it for a escort wagon..said i'll get another one when they were out of college....that was a long wait....sure, you will find other ways to take up your time...but your going to need time for yourself..even if its just to sit in it and listen to the radio.......best of luck to you and your new family..

wife says the car must go before the kid can be concieved...I want that in writing...LOL

I still get to practive though!

We were stationed in Germany and I had a new 944 on order when my wife informed my that our first one was coming. I borrowed a baby seat to see if it would fit.....no.... :( so I cancelled the Porsche and ordered an Audi 5000 Turbo instead. Then traded the Fiat Spyder for a Subaru.

At least I avoided buying a minivan. Never have, never will. No SUV's either.

Priorities change. I've been on vacation and spent 9 complete days in a row with my little one. It brought a tear to my eye this morning when I told her I had to go to work. She gave me a big hug and with these sad little eyes said "bye daddy" - she's 16 months old at this point and I can't stand to be away from her.

The wife and I want another, and that's all I care about right now. The car could go and not affect my life right now in the least (I've owned it for 15 years). Maybe in a few years I'd get the bug back, but my only goal with the car right now is for back-up transportation, other than that for the right price I'd let it go.

My goals have shifted more towards organizations such as RI ALS and the NE Lab Rescue League. I'm involved with both and wish I could dedicate much more time and energy that I can now. A car is a hobby and at this stage in my life, there isn't much room for it. At this year's ALS benefit, the person who was 'honored' was 30 years old and developed ALS less than a year ago. He can't walk and can barely talk at this point. It doesn't look like he'll live to see 31. :( He will leave behind a young wife and several small children. I'm 29 and when you see things such as that up close, it touches you in ways that can't be described. A car is just a hunk of metal :?

Chaz, What does your wife think of you spending all that time in the bathroom?

Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm glad to see your taking a responsible approach to parenting. When my wife told me we were having our first I sold my VW Scirocco and got a Jetta GTI. She sold her Mustang II and got a Colt Vista 4WD wagon.

Yeah, we just got a jetta as her car (turbo, but still safe). Now to get rid of this mustang.

I have always wanted kids. So, since this is my 3rd stang (a 66 289 coupe and a 69 sportroof 289) I know someday I will get another. I wills till read here everyday. Relieves stress at work.

I'll let you guys know when and if it goes....in newspaper this week, maybe mustang trader next...

Sounds like me. When I found out I was gonna be a father, I was still driving my 88 Tempo has my daily driver. My wife had a 95 Grand AM GT.

We agreed that we needed something newer and with 4 doors. So we went out on the spur of the moment and traded in the grand am for a brand new sunfire and I traded my step-father my 88 tempo for his 94 tempo that was in a great deal better shape.

Funny how things come full circle, and I still have the 88 Tempo. But my daughter only rides in the sunfire or the van.
