The instructionsa that come with the offy 3- 1 barrel kit say that the manifold MUST be installed after the head has alredy been reinstalled....I can't see why this would be true, but does anybody know why?

Two reasons-one is that on some applications, it becomes difficult to access the head bolts. The other reason I'm told is that putting it on prior to installing the head is that you can distort the head by cranking down the intake prior to bolting the head to the motor. Is this the first attempt on your part to install this? I have the same setup and am learning many little things that are helpful if you have the need.

It appears to me that the head bolts are the main reason. Do you really think that tightening down the "intake" could distort the head? I think the threads would pull out before you could get it that tight....We're talking about a half inch thick piece of aluminum vs. a large chunk of cast iron!I'm installing it on the engine stand anyway, I'm not doing it in the car...Did you have any problems sealing the o-rings that came in the kit? That looks to me like the least reliable part of the whole setup. I have heard some people complain about a stiff throttle with the offy setup, how bad is it? Thanks for your advice.....

Folks,
Could either, or both, of you please provide the dimensions of the O rings on your setup? ID=?, OD=? and thickness of the o-ring itself.
I'd rather not measure and 'think' that I have the correct measurement if you don't mind.
Thanks very much.

If you are installing it on a stand, its not a big deal to put it on. The only problem is getting to the bolts closest to the block.

I installed mine after putting the head back on, it wasn't a big deal. Make sure its tight though, since once the header goes on, there is no way if I remember correctly to get to the bolts...

It depends on the return spring you are using on whether or not the throttle will be tight....
