oil filter study

I think I have seen that one, the one I have seen most commonly is:

Years ago, I did an oil change on my dad's car. As I unsrewed the FRAM filter, I heard a light clunking inside - when shook it was very definite clunk.

I cut it apart to examine it, and about half the element had disintegrated (only half the pleats left) and all the paper bits were flowing all through the engine! The oil and filter only had 3,000 miles on it.

I will NEVER use FRAM anything, ever again. Their air filters rate lowest on a flow test as well.

I use either Napa Gold or Purolator products.

Ah yes, I have seen that/those site(s) before. Pretty informative. And by the way, I use the same filter on my 5.0L as I do on my 200 c.i.d. - good ol' MotorCraft FL-1A 8)
