Oil here, Oil there, Oil everywhere!!

I have an oil leak, I believe its coming from my oil pan gasket, It may even be leaking from my rear main seal. It used to be a slight leak...like a few drips after driving it for a while, now its leaking pretty bad, put it this way, it will make a nice puddle on the ground. I want to replace the oil pan gasket but it goes right over my suspension and subframe. I here pulling the engine is the best way to replace the gasket but I simply dont have enough time as of now to do so, So my question is, do you think its a good idea to pour that goopy oil leak sealing substance in my oil? I need to stop the leak, or slow it down until I get enough time to make the actual repair? Anynone ever use that oil leak stop stuff? Let me know guys. thanks kevin.

no no...you can replace the pan without lifting the engine....

from what I saw, its kinda awkward to remove around the oil pump...take the crossmember out and support the engine...

If the leak is a rubber seal that's old (and cooked hard from heat), then the seal-swellers will help a little. If it's a pan gasket that's old, try the oil-based stuff from Bars Leaks (NOT the radiator stuff, the other stuff for engines). That's made for sealing small cracks in cork gaskets.

The first thing I'd do is: take the car to the local carwash to thoroughly wash the oil & gunk from the whole engine. Then, drive it home(or just let it sit & idle) & see where the leak really is coming from. Then make a plan on how to rectify the problem. You could have a front crank seal leak(common), dizzy housing seal leak(not uncommon), rear main leak(common), head gasket oil leak(WAY common), rocker cover leaking, oil galley plug loose or fell out(odd), the list goes on. You GOTTA prove where its hemmoraging oil from first.

Yes I have taken it to the car wash many occasion and sprayed down the engine and beneath the car clean, The oil is defienetly leaking from the oil pan gasket and im sure I have some leaking from the rear main too, which I dont really look forward into replacing :x But hey, ya gotta do what you gotta do right? How hard is replacing the rear main on the 200's? Do I need a special tool for this? I also plan on doing my oil pan gasket this upcoming weekend...hopefully that goes as easy as im hoping. On top of all these other leaks, My carb is still dumping fuel after shutoff (after second rebuild) and I recently performed a trans service as I was being nice to the damn car and when I installed the pan it decided It wanted to leak with Mr. oil pan.. My drive way has nice red and black stains living happily ever after on my white cement...that my dad yells at me for. Hopefully my car can hold off for another week and does not ignite in a fury of flames. Wish me best of luck guys, These leaks are going down!
