Hi, new to the site and requesting a bit of advice. rebuilt my 66 200, runs very good, except for oil leak. seems that the rubber seal with the gasket set would not seal in any way, tried two of them and indexed them 8:00 oclock 2:00 oclock. I removed pan and dropped the crank low enough to replace rear main with rope seal, still leaks a little, but way better than before. I have replaced the cam plug in the rear of the block and resealed the oil gally plug. I also sealed the flywheel and flywheel bolts and the rear main cap. Anyone have any ideas? would appreciate input from ya-all, :thanks:Jim

8) when i install a new rubber seal, i first make sure which way it is supposed to go, and yes there is a particular direction. there is a lip that should face the front of the engine.

second i use a little rtv sealer at the ends of the seal and on the main cap surface, a very thin coat on the main cap surface by the way, to seal the joint.

third, as you did, i also put a little sealer on the flywheel bolts.
