oil pan for 200

In most cases the car type oil pan off a 144, 170, and many years of the 200's up to 1977 (and a few up into the 1980's) are the same size. The exceptions for 200's are with the later model Fox chassis 200 oil pans. IE 1978 up Fairmont's, 1979 up Mustangs / also the same for Mercury versions of these. Good luck

Yes, most are the same, except later models had the sump (large part) in the rear, and that's where the oil pickup tube is. Earlier models had the sump in the front. If you have the correct sump location, there's no difference. Be careful about dented pans--mine was dented maybe 1/2 inch, and caused a rod cap to hit it.

Yes we had same problem with a slightly dented pan, wasn't sure if falcons and comets had different pans in the later 60's with engines other than the 144.

I was wondering if in the same sump style, did they change the size of the pan after the 144 for the larger engines with the longer stroke? My pan has some dents that have been pushed out but just want to make sure the 200 doesn't need a deeper or wider pan.
