Oil Slinger and Oil Pump Questions

Did the oil slinger just fit over the slotted shaft and ride free or did it have a retainer of some kind?

Was there a gasket between the oil pump and block?

its free to do as it likes if there is no provision for an e clip

almost forgot the slinger actually prevents oil riding up the shaft same kind of actin as windage tray for a crankshaft the oil gets slung off instead of going all the way to the top.
