Well, I havent investigated this thoroughly, but I went to my fathers farm on Saturday, and we were re-mounting the battery and doing other variious fix uppers to the Fairmont. I pulled away later at night, and it seemed I had no headlights.

I drove over 100 miles with my markers on and emergency hazzard lights on a Saturday night. Luckilly, no pull over, but its all legit with the tags and insurance.

I tried the brites as well, nothing.

They worked the night before Saturday when we were tinkering around.

Could we have loosened some sort of connection?

I havent looked at it in the light yet, but I pulled over at about 5 well-lighted gas stations to try some things. No luck.

I doubt its the switch.

I tried all fuses.

Anybody have a suggestion?

Ill go diggin tomorrow, where the hell is my test light?

Thanks, Joe.

My buddy's 78 Futura experienced the same problem. Sometimes he could hit the brights and it would work for awhile. Channged the light swith on the dash and no more problems. It' a cheap and easy fix.

I think I figured it out. The windshield or an underhood rubber plug thats pulled out is slightly leaking water to my feet. That was a rainy day earlier, and I bet water and condensation caused it, because the next day, they worked fine. I tried the switch about 100 times, and its fine NOW.

Theres 2 plugs under the hood that are missing, from guages that somebody installed. Instead of popping an "X" in the rubber with a knife, they pulled them out completely.

Ill just gob on some silicone sealant under the hood where the rubber should be, or I might even have some plugs from my old fox mustangs in the garage.
