Alright. This problem has driven me slightly nuts so bear with me.
I swapped my 200 for a 250 in my 65 mustang and tried to get a two barrel (holley 350cfm) to work on it (it worked but idled rough and sucked gas like crazy) but it needed a rebuiild and I decided for the mean time just to throw my old autolite 1100 on there. I know it is very small and it wont give me any more power, but it works without hiccups and idles smooth and whisper quiet and revs up quickly and has great low end torque (probably from the high air velocity through the small throat). Anyways, I have tried other one barrels, like a carter yf, but I cannot get it to idle properly because the idle hovers around 1000 rpm, but if I try and get it down to proper idle of 650-700 it runs really rough and doesnt want to idle well. This was the case for two different yf carbs already, but when I throw my 1100 on there it idles great. Is there something I am missing? Or am I just retarted? I have also played with the timing and it has little to no effect. The car idles slightly better with more advance but that is at 1500rpm. I have checked for vacuum leaks and all that good stuff and couldnt find anything at all. ANY ideas are welcome.

Thanks for you patience and thanks in advance!
