Okay .. I have $ 1,300.00 For My Engine

If you are going to go with headers. Get a set from Mike at FSPP. I have the Pacemaker ceramic coated headers. Mine have been in for close to two years and still look new. . The header is a good start but if you are doing the engine and only have limited funds I would go with a bigger cam and possibly a engine balance.

I got quoted over $2K doing research for a performance build around here awhile back, and that wasn't with forged pistons. Most of it was labor in the motor, and they didn't have a torque plate to even up the cylinders.

I'm wondering just how must abuse this motor can take without the need for a full-out build. Is just a basic rebuild enough for higher HP street applications (less than 270 cam)? Boosted to 10psi?

Where's the magic performance line where you need to drop coin on forged pistons and dynamic balancing?

opinions?

okay hehe, the 850.00 is the cost of labour (and the clean up .. like a sandwash or something like that?) and a new water pump, pistons, air cleaner, and stuff like that (like other new "shinny chome parts"). I want those FSPP headers .. but like the site says they are sold out, i also managed to get soem "wait time" for the mechanic so i can talk to ya'll a little more about the parts i wanna get.

BTW 1967FordMustangs, who is doing your engine work? I need a head milled and I'm new to the area (Modesto).

The guy who is doing the work is a good buddy of my grandpa's, i don't know the guy but i guess hes a family friend.

AAH! DON'T PAY $850 for that stuff ALONE.

Blockwash/hottank should be like $50-$75. A waterpump from your parts counter is like $30-$40. Stock pistons NEW are about $120:

and should run like $10/ea to press onto the rods.

Air cleaner?! You can get an aircleaner of your liking for $5-$150 but stop at ANY parts store before you pay your mechanic money for an aircleaner. The aftermarket chrome valve covers are $25 all day long on eBay or buy right from mike:

You need to get an itemized list of EXACTLY what this guy is doing and giving you for that kind of dough!

yeah .. thats why i am gonna start a new topic .... reply on it every1 plz...
