Anyone familiar with Clifford Performance engine building / machining from a few years ago?. I have been talking with someone who had an small 6 engine machined & built by Clifford Performance. His contact at Clifford' then was "John". I am trying to find out some specs on the motor build and Clifford Performance isn't able to help.

Thanks

I'll try to ask a specific question on a Clifford engine build of a 1970 250 engine a few years ago :

It is supposed to have a 10:1 CR and I want to know how this was done. The build sheet mentions "Johns 10:1 Pistons" . I am trying to figure out if the block is decked or if the pistons or rods are taller . I can't open it up as it isn't mine (yet) and I am trying to find out how it was built. It is supposed to have Clifford peened rods and other HP items.

Thanks

"Jahns" pistons. I don't recall any other specs from the article. More than likely, the pistons were for a 255 V8 and provided a taller CH.

I found Cliffords fairly unresponsive when I inquired about their "torque monster" head. I wanted to know what parts went into it to make it worth the money, and all I got back from them was "blah, blah, blah it'll make your car perform like no other." If they'd only answered my question directly, I probably would've bought it. Now I'm holding out for the FSPP head...

Powerband,
A nice start for a rebuild while still keeping it stockish and on the cheap, have the engine block decked to .ooo and use the Tempo HSC flat top pistons, bored to 3.71 and if your combustion chanbers are 52cc's and you used a headgasket at least .035 thick when compressed you will have a 10.5:1 ratio......Don't forget to have the rotating assembly balanced, it will cost about $100-150 extra and is worth every penny. Don't go too mild with the cam or you may regret the lost HP. There are other ways of getting to the 10.5:1 ratio this is just one that has worked for my son's 200 six.

No Mike,
Too much going on right now for me  But I would love to show you my mustang sometime, email me when you might be passing thru town (Bakersfield) or email me you phone number and address, I my just plan a little road trip, was also thinking about a car show in Oxnard down at the marina (it's right next to where my sailboat is sliped) in the next few months.
