Out of curiosity DSII?

you'd end up like me
it's pretty easy to do, and the simplest fix action is to just shift the plug wires over one

for example, instead of 153624, my firing order is 536241 because i had to shift each wire down one

it'll still run, you just can't rely on plugging the #1 wire into where the cap says #1 should be

Did you have trouble getting the timing set?? I would assume that you did, but my engine is acting funny and I am trying to chase down all possibilities.

rotate the distributor housing accordingly, so the rotor and #1 terminal line up again.

movement might be limited by the vacuum advance unit though.

"acting funny" is just a little vague--does it start? backfire? have a miss?
1Tooth is really easy to do as the teeth are curved so if you don't take that into consideration when you slide it in that is even a likely thing.

It is missing, and at idle it just sounds, well like it is struggling. It idles alright, just not really smooth. It also kind of feels liek the miss gets worse when I start off from a stop, just when I start to engage the clutch.

Have you put a timing light on it? and also double check the firing order.

Check and check, next I was going to do a compression check and then look for vacuum leaks, last I guess will be a carb replacement.

You just need to rotate the dizzy a little to make it work. You realy need to put a timming light on it. and if you moved the wires around on the cap, when you time it be sure to use the wire off the #1 plug not the one marked on the cap as it well be different if you moved the wires..

Why not just reinstall dist? Get #1 on comp. stroke, stop with timing mark on TDC then slide dizzy in where rotor is pointing at #1 on cap, ( just mark side of dist housing then remove cap-- look at the angle on the dizzy shaft and allow for the rotation.)generally directly at fender with vac adv. houseing towards firewall-or if engine is 12 o-clock, rotor is 6 o-clock and vac is 3 o-clock. There is only 1 bolt holding dizzy in and it will come in and out really easily. a little smear of oil on bushing and o-ring is a good idea. Then double check firing order 153624 going in the right direction and set timing with timing light.
