Just a thought and one item I have NEVER checked into, exhaust.
I have an untraditional exhaust set-up. I have a Walker™ run-of-the-mill muffler located under the passenger seat floorboard and a Harley™ tailpipe located under the rear bumper. The tailpipe has no material in it, but does have a baffle, a steel tab bent in to the exhaust path to muffle the noise. Could this be keeping too much heat in the engine, thus overheating it at speed?
