Will the pacemaker fit on a 66 mustang? I'm not sure if I have a high or low mount starter. How can i tell?

Do you need the port divider? how involved is welding that in? i've never welded cast iron.

i do believe that you need it
you don't necessarily have to weld it in, CobraSix used an industrial type epoxy to install his, you can also braze it in

do a search, methods of installing it should be covered in several threads

I am of the opinion that the divider is not needed.

- Just so you know there are varying thought on this issue!

Oh, the Pacies are terrific parts.

Not all 200's from the 80's are low-mount, just the ones with the E1 - BB casting numbers. A high starter is alongside the block above the pan, a low starter is alongside the pan below the gasket.

The pacemaker should be pretty much a bolt it up and go item. Unless you have the head off and can weld in the port divider I wouldn't worry about it. I tried epoxy and it held for a few weeks then came loose. I took it out and did not notice any difference. That was almost two years ago. By the way spend the extra money and have the header Jet Coated. Mine still looks new.

Nate,
I'm in the process of putting headers and a port divider in right now. I'm using a high temp (2350 degree) ceramic epoxy to afix the port divider. Don't have a welder at hand.

Here's what I plan to use to install my port divider...
It costs $17.95 for a caulking gun size cartridge. Resists heat up to 2350 continuous and 3000 degrees spike.

Can purchase on line or call company from their web site.

Cheers,
Steve-O

I used 907 Resbond epoxy from Cotronics to install the port divider. It has been about 1 1/2 years and it is still in place.

@#*$#@!&%!!!!!!!!!!!
stupid admins, blocking sites i wanna go to...

how does the header hook up to the exhaust pipe?
from the pics on FSPP, it looks like it's just a straight pipe out, no flanges to bolt onto
do you weld it onto the exhaust pipe (no, i hope), and if not do you use U-bolts? and wouldn't that damage the ceramics?

or is there something else?

The exhaust just slips into the header (2" pipe) and you use a couple of these stainless band clamps to connect them together. They work a lot better than a muffler clamp. You can actually disconnect the pipe from the header because the clamp doesnt crush the pipes together like an ordinary muffler clamp.

i think i've seen those clamps before... possibly in Hot Rod's New Product section

they work like compression fittings on plumbing lines, right?
where did you get them from? (or is that covered on your installation page?)

You can get them from Summit in various sizes.

not quite what i was thinking of, i wonder if i can find the kind i was refering to, from what i remember, they look much better than those

thanks Mike, that's been itchin away at the back of my mind for a couple days

My local NAPA store stocks those types of clamps. Pretty much any big rig type store has them or can get them. Thats what I used to mount the stacks on my dodge diesel. expect to pay $8 to $10 depending on size.
